Birmingham Botanical Gardens -

Photography to market the venue for conferences, weddings and events

Birmingham Botanical Gardens,in Leafy Edgbaston required an update for their Events Brochure and marketing material to populate their Website.

Commissioned by Ampersand ,it was great to photograph a location that I have known and loved for many years . Since my student days in Birmingham and as a practicing advertising photographer working from my Studio in Digbeth and at that time living in Harbourne ,this Gem of a location has been used for many advertising photo shoots that I did in the last century as well as been used as a backdrop for a Portrait of Birmingham TV personality Shefali Oza who is part of the BBC Midlands Today team . I have fond memories of the Tropical Hot House which I used as a substitute for a steamy Tropical Rain Forest although I have since photographed in real Rain Forests in Africa ,the Indian Ocean and Asia,I still get excited seeing such exotic plants in the suburbs of Birmingham, bringing back wonderful childhood memories from when I visited way back and the most exotic plant I saw was a Yucca !

Producing a series of interior and exterior images as well as food ,drink and lifestyle images was a technically demanding exercise/project ,as the Gardens and the interiors had to be integrated as it is the venues USP .

Using continuous LED and flash lighting as well as the natural and ambient light was a challenging exercise ,to compliment the wonderful unique historic but cavernous space of the main Hall as well as the conference and meeting rooms ,each with their own style. Great Wedding styling produced a sea of Pink and a four foot cake of Macaroons was a temptation to even someone without a sweet tooth .

Great coordination from the efficient staff ensured that over two days ,we delivered over 100 images for the image bank and the core images for the new Brochure and new web material .

A great location for a variety of events ,the Birmingham Botanical Gardens is surely an exceptional location for somewhere just a little different . I hope that my photography communicates this to potential clients and that this wonderful establishment shall contiue to be a great location in the City of Birmingham .
